@Mindey@FE706DAF Thanks for the question. In answer, I would say that yes, I'd be up for running this project; however, no, I do not have collaborators already. I'm happy for you to do what you think is best with it re draft v public. Also happy to work with anyone interested in putting it together to make it a reality. I think it would be a very useful tool for people.

Hey, Niamhnab, do you think you would like to run this project? Namely, is this something that, given that you had some collaborators, you would want to do? If not, let me know, and I think it would make sense to make it as a draft instead of public.

What would such social conditionality mean? Technology is double-edge sword, does that mean, that the patent owners would be able to restrict the use of technology for certain ranges of purposes?

How would this relate to technology use by governments? Patents usually are not enforceable at government levels.

ago @ "Insurance-based Global Governance"

While makes total sense, this assumes that the losses are net positive, and that we don't know who is going to be affected by the global catastrophic risks.

If they are net negative (e.g., practically everyone loses), or it is known in advance, that e.g., the locations near the sea are going to suffer most due to the rising sea level and global warming, I think, this would make this kind of insurance scheme harder to implement.

Why 8? While 8 is more than 1, the number "8" looks arbitrary. What criteria would be chosen to determine the "commitment to ecological and social well-being," of the organizations? How would this be inclusive of emergent organizations, rather than just de-facto most powerful world's organizations?

Looks a lot like what would be if we turned Infinity into a DAPP, except, no mention of the further structure. E.g., whats the most effective way to turn ideas into projects, or link ideas with problems, or execute the projects, etc. How such free market would manage projects.

If it is a different currency per project, then it looks a lot like what we have on Ethereum via ERC20ies, and already exists.

ago @ Make Anaesthetics Generally Available to Suffering Beings

[Tomas@9911CE3F], quick search turns up these numbers:

Calculating the exact number of wild animals on earth is difficult, but estimates suggest that it is several orders of magnitude higher than humans and farmed animals combined. For every human on earth, there are at least 10 animals suffering in farms, and likely 1,000 to 100,000 wild vertebrates and plausibly 100,000,000 to 1,000,000,000 “bugs” (including creatures such as insects, spiders and earthworms). This means that even if these animals are on average experiencing more than 1/100,000,000th to 1/10,000,000th the suffering experienced by the average animal in a farm, the absolute amount of wild-animal suffering is greater.

Hey, [Yuri.Brigadir@8E326B69],

3.) implementation of "lean" and "kanban" methodologies

I imagine the whole parlaments going kanban? Oh, maybe :) The recent version of Infinity kind of goes that direction ( check out http://inf.li ).

Too many policies are discussed verbally, and this leads to emotional confrontation which makes some arguments invalid.

Totally agree. That's again, what should happen. With the introduction of blockchain, I suppose, this would make it possible to just let people tell their opinions with public and cryptographically signed messages.

The 2nd idea -- would be good to separate as separate as independent one.

Interesting. Could these transceivers be also applied for very cheap communications on earth? Small lasers are cheap. {0.5}

I think, the nano-transceivers could also have a specific design, so that the information could be transferred, e.g., via light polarization, so that the computing could be performed within SENTs as if they were a single Turing-machine.

Renamed this into a "System of wristbands to monitor employee stress, and provides rest". Goals titles are okay to be verbs, but ideas have to be nouns, as if they are invention names.

(originally, was: "Allow people to produce as much work as they can manage, but not as much as the project requires")

ago @ Communicate road information to citizens

When writing ideas, write as if hey are new inventions. The thought "to communicate information" can be a part of brainstorming, but on Infinity, the solutions section is for ideas that have the degree of conceptualization, where you can put a name to it, something like a novel system, or a gadget. So, it could be "A SatNav that warns you of obstacles based on GPS data". Now, if you could go into more details of how it would work, this would be good for an idea on Infinity. :)

Btw., I'm sure you are aware that the current traffic conditions are inferred exactly this way -- by signals from the mobile phone owners on the roads. I'm not sure if the update rate in the phones would be sufficient for a collision warning system though, and likely, you would need special equipment for the cars.

How would this compare to the traditional radars?

Bacterial contamination is just one type, there are other types of food poisoning. Moreover, the food spoilage involves more than just bacteria -- enzymes, oxidation, mold, yeasts,...

ago @ Financial Think-Tank ("Fintank")

I would extend this idea to a new concept : "contributionalism" - an economy based on meeting human goals rather than meeting growth targets and "making money".

People would have an access to a global economic dashboard of wants and needs. Then, they can choose which one they could take on.

Even if there is an advent of automation, there will still be a set of tasks that only humans can carry out, such as minding other peoples' animals, children, etc. And also, a human needs to tell robots what to do in order to avoid some bias that come out of perfect algorithmization and automation. If robots will serve humans, then humans will need to tell them what they want.

So a dashboard could contain a set of things that a person wants, and a set of tasks that one needs to do in order to get them. Suppose there is a goal or need that is not sufficiently met among a large number of people, then one should get a warning in the dashboard. Then, one will be encouraged to contribute to it if they have the necessary skills for it.

I have expanded both ideas, and connected them too. If there are still some further questions, I will re-think the defective parts of the ideas.

As for connecting them together, it is too early to establish exact way to do it, because we will need to try out all the points that were mentioned in the idea and test them first.

[reply]

Yuri.Brigadir

ago @ Better management of projects and communications in the houses of parliament

Also, can you crystallize in more detail, how this would work in practice? Would the system transcribe all discussions in the houses of parliament, and make them available in this govt-run forum? How does that integrate with project management? How would this guarantee to solve the parent problem?

[reply]

Mindey

ago @ Better management of projects and communications in the houses of parliament

Great, and congratulations with the first idea on Infinity! :) I see several ideas in one - use most modern project management techniques, and create a government-run forum for feedback and complaints.

The "Use the most modern project management techniques" is very vague, because it is not clear what is "the most modern". We had thoughts that "oh, you could use trello for government, you could use basecamp for public issues, etc.", or "you could use 'agile' for government projects," and so forth. However, a few years later "agile" is not modern anymore, and "basecamp" is replaced by new technology "X". So, it would be good if you can be more specific about this, because "use the best technology" is not an idea, it's a homework problem.

Regarding the forum thing. So, essentially, a "government-run online feedback forum for complaints"?. Not a bad idea at all. In fact, I have had a bit similar idea by a friend of mine, recently expressed, as -- "A complaints register!" (allow citizens to easily and semi-automatically file legally binding complaints), and make the govt do what it is supposed to do. Complaints are, in fact, a supported form of feedback from citizens in many countries, that government officials are obliged to pay attention to, if the number of complaints reaches certain threshold.

ago @ Educate Retailers on Food Donation Legislation

[colemai], I do agree that legislation is a problem when convincing retailers to donate food, although how to make it a scalable solution?

_> An education team with a pro bono lawyer could probably convince some big food retailers to spend their social consciousness money on donating expiring perishable foods to local charities/homeless shelters etc. _

Thing is, that big retailers would be interested in providing their time to deal with lawyers if only they would see such act as a return not a cost. I wonder, how we can make it more convenient and less time consuming for retailers to donate food with less effort?

_> Other problems are that this would only help food poverty in relatively well off countries. _ You might like an idea shared by [gmikhai] where he talks about how to deal with hunger in developing countries. Quote: "On the other hand, restaurants, bistros, and other eateries throw out a lot of food waste. They could be relatively inexpensively disinfected, freeze dried, homogenized, and finally pressed into balls or briquettes. These balls shall be available for free near any restaurant, supermarket, and other public places, especially in poor countries." (see a picture in the article)
